Do I need renter’s insurance in Nanaimo?
Yes. We require all tenants to carry renter’s insurance with at least $2 million liability coverage. This protects you, your belongings, and also protects you from liability if someone is injured in your unit or if you accidentally cause damage that affects the property or other tenants. It reduces your risk of being sued and ensures you’re covered in case of fire, water damage, or accidents.
Proof of insurance is needed before move-in.
What documents do I need to apply for a rental?
A strong application includes:
- Government-issued photo ID
- Proof of income (recent pay stubs or employment letter)
- Rental references from previous landlords
- Credit check authorization
Having these ready speeds up the approval process.
Are pets allowed in your rentals?
Many of our Nanaimo rentals are pet-friendly, but each property has specific rules about the type, size, or number of pets allowed. If a property accepts pets, a refundable pet damage deposit (up to half a month’s rent) will be required. Always check the listing details.
What happens if my rental needs repair?
If a repair is needed, contact us right away. For urgent issues like flooding, leaks, or heating failures, call or text immediately.
For non-emergency requests, email rentals@nanaimorentals.ca with details and photos if possible. Our maintenance team will schedule repairs promptly.
Are utilities included in the rent?
This varies by property. Some rentals include water and garbage collection, while tenants typically pay BC Hydro directly.
Check each listing for details.
Is parking included?
Many of our rentals come with either a designated parking stall or garage space. Some properties also allow street parking. Check your lease agreement for details.
